The Garrit Anderson Memorial Scholarship honors VYO alumnus Garrit Anderson and his love of traveling. Garrit played violin and was a member of the VYO when they traveled to France in 2009 and to Germany and the Czech Republic in 2011. Garrit pursued a life full of incredible adventures spanning the globe. His passion for travel led him to 61 countries over 6 continents.
Fellow VYO alumnus, Charles Edwards-Kuhn, established this scholarship in memory of his friend and their friendship that was fostered during their time in the VYO. This scholarship honors Garrit’s love of traveling and is intended to offset the cost of participating in a VYOA international tour for students who demonstrate financial need. For years when there is no international tour, scholarship funds will support financial aid for orchestra students.
