Da Capo offers intermediate woodwind & brass players an ensemble enrichment opportunity in a fun & encouraging environment. During each session, musicians will prepare concert repertoire specific to winds and brass, culminating in a performance for friends and family in Elley-Long Music Center!

Da Capo is intended for students in grades 6–9 who have at least 1 year of experience on their instrument. Sessions are 7 weeks long and take place twice per year.

Rehearsals: Sundays, 12:30–1:45pm at Elley-Long Music Center at St. Michael’s College

Winter, 2025 Da Capo rehearsals are on the following Sundays:

January 12, 19, 26

February 9, 16 (no rehearsal Feb 2 or 23)

March 2

The Concert is on Sunday, March 9 at 1:30pm at Elley-Long Music Center with a dress rehearsal at 12:30pm.

Skill expectations: Students should be able to play in keys with up to 2 sharps or 2 flats, and be comfortable reading rhythms that include sixteenth, eighth, quarter, half, and whole notes and their equivalent rests, including dotted rhythms. No audition is required for participation, simply register using the link below.

Financial Aid

Financial Aid: The VYOA is committed to ensuring that no child is discouraged from participating due to financial circumstances. Need-based financial aid is available to all qualifying families with a combined household income up to $120,000 who wish to apply. You can find the 2024-25 online financial aid application here.
