VYOA is hosting a series of Free Studio Classes in the Elley-Long Music Center led by our outstanding Lesson Program faculty! These free studio classes are open to the public. Instrumentalists grades 5 through college are welcome to attend and bring their instruments. Music educators and music education majors are also welcome to attend.

Saturday, September 21, 2024. 10am-12pm – Percussion Day with Nicola Cannizzaro. 

Join the Juilliard-trained veteran of the Broadway pit Nicola Cannizzaro in a percussion studio class aimed to solidify basics of technique on standard orchestral percussion and beyond. Percussionists of all ages and experiences are encouraged to bring their sticks and mallets so they can play along.

Saturday, October 12, 2024. 1-3pm- Clarinet Studio Class with Betsy LeBlanc. 

Our Juilliard-trained master clarinet teaching artist Betsy LeBlanc will lead a studio class intended for clarinetists of all ages and experience. This is also open to music educators and collegiate music education majors. Everyone is encouraged to bring a clarinet and play along.

Saturday, February 15, 2025. 10am – 12pm – Flute Studio Class with Laurel Maurer. 

Our incredible teaching artist and member of Vermont Virtuosi, flutist Laurel Maurer, will lead a studio class intended for flutists of all ages and levels. This is open to the public including music educators and collegiate music education majors. Everyone is encouraged to bring a flute and play along.

Saturday, March 8, 2025. 9am-12pm – Horn Studio Class with Bill Karstens.  

Our horn teaching artist, Bill Karstens, will lead a studio class intended for hornists of all ages and levels. Bill will impart his lifetime of knowledge performing with some of North America’s finest orchestras. This is open to the public including music educators and collegiate music education majors. Everyone is encouraged to bring a horn to play along.
